Galaxy Lounge
The Galaxy Lounge can easily be described as the most charming hotel in Arugam Bay. It sits directly on the white sandy beachfront of Arugam Bay offering a spectacular view of the bay. The central lounge area has comfortable sofas, wooden deck chairs and hammocks where you can while away the hot afternoons and cool evenings. It also houses the charmingly rustic dining area.
Accommodation
The rooms consist of spacious wooden cabanas with tree house like balconies set amidst a profusion of white bougainvillaea. The rooms are simply yet comfortably furnished with large wooden double beds, mosquito nets and standing fans.
Cuisine
The kitchen offers a simple menu of delicious food and drinks. Seafood, pastas and Sri Lankan cuisine is cooked to perfection and the fresh fruit juices are cool, thirst quenching and completely fresh. The service can only be described as excellent!
Overall Service
We found the service at the Galaxy Lounge to be exceptional. The staff were always friendly, polite and eager to be of help. Although the staff was small, they were always on stand-by and managed to fulfill all our requests to our satisfaction. And always with a smile!
Activities
Arugam Bay is considered to be one of the top ten surf destinations in the world. The surfing season begins in May and goes on till November. There is a beach break right in front of the Galaxy Lounge that is good for body surfing and beginners and there are 3 excellent point breaks close by (The Point, Pottuvil Point, and Crocodile Rock). Bicycles and canoes are available for those interested in exploring the nearby lagoon area’s natural wilderness that is home to monitor lizards, birds, and monkeys. The hotel is also located close to Yala and Lahugala National Parks where you will find elephants, leopard, crocodile, wild boar, water buffalo, spotted deer, sambar, sloth bear, jackal, mongoose, pangolins and grey langurs amongst other large animals. Definitely worth a visit!
