You can enjoy thrilling wildlife jeep safaris or take a leisurely bird or butterfly-watching stroll in the wildlife reserves of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has 86 species of mammals, 427 recorded species of birds and 240 species of butterflies that are endemic to the region. Some of the commonly spotted animals in the wildlife reserves include the elephant, leopard and other animals from the cat family, sloth bear, deer, reptiles and amphibians.
